In this weeks episode of the busy mum podcast, I speak with Alela of The Soul Nutrient Project, we talk about sleep and looking after yourself first

How do you define yourself and what you do in your business (if you have one) and your family life?

A great question! I am here to be of service to others and show women that you can have it all but it starts with looking after yourself first. You can’t pour from an empty cup! So, I help women to fall madly in love with themselves first and then their life. Once you have the energy and feel great in yourself you are able to be a better mum, wife, sister, daughter, friend! So I believe it unfolds from there. I first got into my line of work once my daughter was born. I went from marketing boss in the magazine industry to working for myself based purely online so that I can be with my kids each and every day and show them you can make it all work!

Describe for us, a day in the life of you.  Do you have any tips or life hacks?

Up at 5am, gym or Pilates class and then home in time for kids to wake up. Mad dash to kinder drop offs and kids activities with my toddler. I get my son to sleep in the car for his day nap so that I can work and study in the car while he sleeps! I found that when I was at home for the nap I would do house work! So, this worked for me and ensures I am not late for the kinder pick up! 2 until 7pm is total kids time and once they’re asleep my work begins on the business and study!

What was the best advice you have received?

Don’t take any advice. Trust your gut. Only you know your situation.

What books are you currently reading, or do you have a fave Netflix or Stan show?

I’m currently reading Women who run with the wolves which I am loving and if I ever get the chance to ‘Netflix and chill’ it is Mayans at the moment or some sort of Mexican cartel show! Ha.

What is your go to dinner!

Grilled fish and roast veg. or tacos!

What one area of your life would you like to improve?

More self-care time. I preach to all my clients about this but need more of it myself! Don’t all of us Mums!?

What’s your greatest fear and how do you deal with it?

It used to be of what people would think. But I worked hard on that and now it’s only what I think of what I am doing and now my greatest fear is that my 2 year old stops his day nap!! 😊

Enjoy this body!! And stop complaining about lack of sleep and being bored! Enjoy all of the moments for what they are and what they teach you.

What’s the most useful / useless baby item you have?

Useful when my kids were young with the mummaroo, useless would have to be any of the cute clothes with tricky buttons and pointless pockets. What is my 3 month old going to carry in these pockets???
