Ep. 32 2018 Natalie Moore - Runner & Wellness Coach
In todays episode of the busy mum podcast I speak with the inspiring Natalie Moore who is a runner and a wellness coach at bemoore.com.au
Tell me about yourself.
I am a mum to a daughter, I am a passionate marathon runner and married to my highschool sweetheart who does triathlon Ironman. Having struggled through the post maternity leave return to work, I yearned for passion and meaning in my life. I could never have envisaged how unfulfilling the return to work would be for me. And for someone who loved work and is so ambitious I struggled with that. But I soon realised that it wasn’t me it was the job, so for the last two ½ years I’ve spent pursuing my dream of owning my own business which was born out of my passion for running. Since I created my first business, I have gone onto sell it to a long standing customer and in the midst of growing that one I created another one. I have had a complete career change, from Sales in Packaging and January of this year saw me escape the cubicle to pursue my career as a Wellness Coach in my own business. Making most of life for me is vital for my health and wellbeing, I thrive on learning and have such a passion for coaching and teaching, that with everything I have learnt over the last 2-4 years as a new business owner, mum, marathon runner and wellness coach I am always keen to share what I know to hopefully motivate other women.
Describe for us, a day in the life of you. Do you have any tips or life hacks?
I wake at 5am each morning, I start the day with a short meditation. I then do about 30 minutes of exercise whether its on the bike, yoga or just simply stretching. Then I may do a bit of work until my daughter gets up. We have breakfast - when I left my “day job” this was one of my non-negotiables that I would have breakfast every morning without the rush with my daughter. I then take her to care and I get stuck into work. Afternoon rolls around and then the night time festivities kick in of dinner, bath, bed etc. I will do a meditation before bed, ready for a good night sleep and to start the new day.
Deciding to wake up at 5am every morning has been an absolute life changer for me. I used to wake up in a rush to get myself and my daughter dressed, to be out the door for work by 7:30am. I find now my mornings are so much more peaceful and energised.
What was the best advice you have received?
The best quote I have heard which so deeply resonates with me is your energy flows where your attention goes - this headlines my website actually, because it reminds me that we all have the ability to do the thing we would like to do but we need to give it our attention to find the means and energy to make it happen.
What books are you currently reading or do you have a fave Netflix or Stan show?
I’m listening (audio books) to The Happiness Project and I am re-listening to Oprahs The Wisdom of Sundays.
If you cook, what recipes can you share or meal prep tips?
Yes, I love cooking. At the moment in my household it’s all about low carbs, lots of veggies and healthy fats. With our training, we are always look for great recipes to fuel our performance and recovery. I love my Super Snacks Recipe book by Simple Nourishment. Which is all healthy snacks. I snack prep every Sunday so we have healthy go-to snacks on the go.
What one area of your life would you like to improve?
Something I am really working on at the moment, is being present and switching off from work. This has been the biggest learning curve from me since going full time business owner. The fact that you are always on! And being accessible on Social Media 24/7 doesn’t help. But I am working on creating boundaries for my work and being present when I am with my family, friends etc.
Do you have a daily hack to make your smooth?
Meditation! I can’t talk it up enough…I heard the term book end your days to start and end your day well. And that is exactly how I book end my day - I start and end my day with meditation. Even if its just 5 minutes.
What website have you signed up to that you actually find value in receiving their emails
What’s one piece of advice you would give your pre baby self
Just be - in the moment with your daughter, husband, family, work. Embrace the moment you are in, accept it and let it go.
What’s the most useful / useless baby item you have?
Not very exciting but the vaporiser has saved my life with my daughter, who up until late last year had constant tonsilitis. I’ve just put it on tonight again for a rotten cold and it works a dream every time.
