Ep. 17 2018 - Alicia Hagen

In this episode I speak with Alicia Hagen, a digital marketer of Mint Peach Media.

Tell me a little about yourself

I’m a busy Mum of two (6-year-old and a 9-month-old) and run a digital media agency helping small to medium sized businesses increase their leads, conversions and profits. I’ve been married to my husband for 7 years and have known him since I was 13. We’ve lived overseas in America, off-grid in a bus in Australia and now settled into suburban life in Brisbane.

I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was 5, where I would recruit the kids in the street to wash cars in the neighbourhood and give them a cut of the profits. Naturally we spent our earnings on lollies and toys!

Mint Peach Media

What does your typical day look like?

Up at 5am to catch up on emails.  The kids generally wake by 6ish.  I make them breakfast and get my big boy ready for school.  After we walk him to school, I generally set up a picnic rug and toys outside with my laptop and start working on projects while my 9-month-old plays.

I try to work in 30mins stints and give her focused attention every 30 mins.  If I have a client call booked, I usually put her in the pram, put my headset on and go for a walk during the call to keep her occupied.  By 3pm, it’s time to get my son from school and I aim to stop work by 3pm and get back into work once they are asleep and lunches are made… generally around 9pm-11pm.

The best advice you have received

Work hard while you’re young and if it’s not making you happy… don’t do it because life is too short.

What books are you currently reading or are you watching Netflix or Stan shows

Expert Secrets by Russel Brunson and She Means Business by Carrie Green

If you cook, what recipes can you share / meal prep tips

I’m a lazy chef…but we try to eat healthy.  My Favourite is cutting up red capsicum, green capsicum, zucchini, asparagus, red onion with some chicken thighs and chorizo.  Adding paprika, cumin and salt…. Throwing it all together…drizzle with coconut oil and putting it in the oven on high for about 30 mins.  Once it’s cooked, adding some coriander on top with sour cream.

What one area of your life would you like to improve.

Fitness!  I haven’t really reclaimed my pre-second baby body.. and I have my sister’s wedding in Hawaii in 3 months.

What’s the one thing you do each day (like a hack) that makes your life run smoother?

Clean the house first! I can’t focus if the house is messy.  And coffee… I need my morning coffee

Quick Questions

What website have you signed up to that you actually. Find value in receiving their emails?

Right now I am learning more about Shopify…so just the Shopify partner training emails at the moment :D

Plus, the unenrollme app is also very handy

What’s one piece of advice you would give your pre-baby self?

Work hard now!! Save your money and don’t sell your investment property!!

What the most useful / useless baby -kids item you have?

Useful – baby carrier, I couldn’t survive without it

Useless – Cot, neither of my children have spent even one night in their cots

Okay, busy mum! Let’s get real, I mean really real real (is that to many reals). I would lurve to get this podcast out there (in podcast land) so that other business mums can learn from these conversations.  As you know, I am on iTunes and I would be forever grateful to get a review on iTunes and the more reviews I receive the more likely iTunes will reward this podcast with a better reach. Here is the iTunes link to help me with a review
