Ep. 04 2019 - Susanna Heiskanen Founder of Nordic Mum Podcast
In this episode of the Busy Mum Podcast, I speak with the podcast host of Nordic Mum where Susanna speaks all things mum life and business.
How do you define yourself and what you do in your business (if you have one) and your family life?
I would call myself as busy mum on business 😊
I have a product business called Tuutu. I produce and sell Finnish Baby Box here in Australia. We have been doing this for 2 years now and most of our boxes are going to indigenous and charity groups that support women in motherhood. You can get your own box from our website. www.tuutu.com.au as we sell them for individual sale as well. I also have a podcast called Nordic Mum Podcast where I talk to up coming entrepreneurs about their journey, offering tips and trickest for any mothers out there who want to start their own business.
Describe for us, a day in the life of you. Do you have any tips or life hacks?
I drop off the kids to school and head out either to drop off my boxes, or recording some podcasts. I tend to edit, proof read and write during the day and answer my emails before I pick up my kids from school.
I tend to do some more work on the evenings once kids are at bed. I try not to work on the weekends as these are family time unless I get left home alone (rarely happens).
What was the best advice you have received?
You always regret things you did not do rather than things you did. Regards to business hire fast and fire faster.
What books are you currently reading, or do you have a fave Netflix or Stan show?
Love reading but do not seem to have the time for it. Currently watching Bodyguard on Netflix !
What is your go to dinner!
I do chili con carne that my kids adore and Vietnamese pork dish that Is family favourite. We love home cooking and pizza night is when we al bake the dough from scratch and bake a huge freezer full of pizzas for school lunches.
What one area of your life would you like to improve?
Be more focused and discipline with my approach to life and business. You have one chance and you should make the most of it.
What’s your greatest fear and how do you deal with it?
Snakes, Living in Australia you just need to bite the bullet and get on with it but I tend to freak out when I see one.
