Ep. 06 2019 - Clara Klemski (Ms Sparkle) Lawyer and Burlesque Dancer
In todays episode I speak with Clara aka Ms Sparkle who is a lawyer by day and by night a Burlesque Dancer.
How do you define yourself and what you do in your business (if you have one) and your family life?
I’m a lawyer with a creative side. I have a side hustle running a party business for hens, birthdays
and corporate events called Sparkle Burlesque and Glitterbomb Entertainment.

Describe for us, a day in the life of you. Do you have any tips or life hacks?
My day starts very early, usually around 5:30am when my two cats try to wake me up to feed them.
I then try to get up and have a shower and do my make up before my daughter wakes up at 7am.
Sometimes I sleep in and that whole routine gets thrown out the window! But in terms of a life
hack I find that my day goes much more smoothly if I’ve had my shower, done my make up and
even squeezed in a cup of tea or listened to a podcast before I get my little one up.
What was the best advice you have received?
The best advice in terms of my career has been that you have to do what matters to you, and set
boundaries. For parenting, it’s hard because you get so much unsolicited advice and much of it is
good advice but sometimes you just need to learn through your own experience. So I suppose it’s
less advice that I’ve received and more a learning that you’ve just got to trust what you know about
parenting and forgive yourself for the mistakes.
Where do you go to get your entertainment? E.g. Netflix, Books, Podcasts, YouTube, and what are your fave’s.
All of the above! On Netflix I am watching reruns of Seinfeld. Still so relevant.
I’m reading Goodwood by Holly Throsby with my parents book club and also Anything is Possible by
Elizabeth Strout as an audiobook when I have a minute.
I also love Russia, if you’re listening - a podcast on ABC.
For YouTube I tend to use it for instructions or life hacks. I love Yoga with Adrienne.
What is your go to dinner!
Spaghetti bolognese - everyone loves it!
What one area of your life would you like to improve?
Probably “free play” for me. Much of what I do is very structured and goal oriented, which is who I
am as a person generally. But I would like to do some free painting or drawing. I used to write a lot
more and wrote plays but I simply haven’t had time, so it would be great to do that again at some
point.
What’s your greatest fear and how do you deal with it?
My biggest fear is losing peace and happiness. Right now I love my life and have a beautiful family with my husband and daughter, surrounded by a great support network of friends and extended family. It’s a lot to appreciate.
Quick Questions
1. What website have you signed up to that you actually find value in receiving their emails
I’ve signed up to Who What Wear and I love their quick and dirty fashion tips. They send every day but I always find it useful. Also Raising Children, the government network is fantastic with tips for parently.
2. What’s one piece of advice you would give your pre baby self
Do your pelvic floor exercises!
3. What’s the most useful / useless baby item you have?
Most useful is my change table. It’s second hand Stokke from Gumtree but it’s just the right height
and has great storage. I spray painted it gold so it’s a bit of fun too.
I’ve thrown out all of the useless baby items but probably the most useless is expensive clothes!
They get dirty in about 5 seconds.
