Ep. 12 2019 - Petria Field of Coco Rose Interiors online
In this episode of the busy mum podcast I speak with Petria of Coco Rose Interiors. We speak about working from home, the postal system and how she manages with a fly in fly out hubby and how important self care is.
How do you define yourself and what you do in your business (if you have one) and your family life?
My name is Petria and I own Coco Rose Interiors, an online bohemian furniture and décor store. We want to inspire you to design your home and live your life in a more natural and eco friendly way. We do this by sourcing sustainable, eco friendly products and demonstrate how to style them in your home to create a more sustainable environment.
I am a Mum to three gorgeous girls 10, 3, 22months and have another bub on the way who is due in February. I am also a wife to a Fly in, Fly Out Husband and a huge coffee lover!
Describe for us, a day in the life of you. Do you have any tips or life hacks?
My schedule is crazy! No two days are the same. Right now I set my alarm at 4:30am to wake up and work before my girls wake up. Most days I manage to squeeze in an hour or two before, which starts my day off in the right direction. Thursdays and Fridays are my main two work days as my girls are at school and daycare.
Especially since falling pregnant with my fourth child I understand how important selfcare is. I hold self care in high regards and believe you can only give your best if your feeling your best, so I have a curfew of 9:30pm to ensure I also get adequate rest.
My tips? Know your strengths and do them well! You are only one person, so I’m sorry to say you will NEVER have time to cover the entirety of your business. Focus on your skill sets that will maximise the quality of service you can provide and outsource the rest!
If you can’t afford to outsource everything, then hire the knowledge to teach you the skill sets you need. This will mean the overall quality of your business will remain high while you execute your niche to perfection!
What was the best advice you have received?
Well it’s not necessarily advice more so who inspires me, and I’m sure you will expect me so same some big names here but I’m actually inspired by all the amazing small businesses run my Mums. I have been lucky enough to connect with so many of the them and do you know what? A lot of Mums are doing the exactly same thing as me – juggling work and mum-life whilst running a killer business.

Okay, busy mum! Let’s get real, I mean really real real (is that to many reals). I would lurve to get this podcast out there (in podcast land) so that other business mums can learn from these conversations. As you know, I am on iTunes and I would be forever grateful to get a review on iTunes and the more reviews I receive the more likely iTunes will reward this podcast with a better reach.
