Ep. 25 2019 - Jessica Donovan - Founder of Natural Super Kids
In todays episode I speak with Jessica in depth about kids nutrition and how Natural Super Kids can help every day mums get some good healthy food into their children.
Tell a little about you, your business (what do you specialize in and how people can contact you) and how you got started?
At Natural Super Kids we empower busy mums to navigate the confusing world of nutrition and health so their kids can thrive! We provide online resources and Naturopathic support to make it easy for mums to make changes to boost the health of their families.
I have worked as a Naturopath in various roles for the last 19 years and wanted to share the information that was transforming my clients' health with the world. I was helping families clear up their child’s eczema, eliminate asthma, improve learning and behaviour of kids with A.D.H.D and Autism, eliminating tummy aches and other digestive problems – all with simple diet changes, nutrition, herbal medicine and lifestyle strategies.
I love that technology allows me to reach families all over the world with resources that improve their families wellbeing in realistic and easy to implement ways.
I also love the freedom of owning my own business. Yes, I work hard but I have flexibility and creative freedom to take my business in the direction that I want. I can be there when my kids have events on at school or take a day off to catch up with a friend for lunch.
On a more personal note: I live on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia with my hubby and 2 kids.
You will find me at the farmers market every Saturday morning sourcing the freshest, local produce to take home to create nourishing and simple meals for my family. The housework often gets forgotten while I am cooking up a storm (you can’t be good at everything – right!) I am a big believer in balance and am great at balancing my healthy habits with wine, dark chocolate and coffee!
I am a travel junkie who loves adventure and the great outdoors. We were crazy enough to spend 13 months travelling Australia in a camper a few years ago and had the time or our lives bumping our way along corrugated roads, swimming in turquoise waters and dodging crocodiles!
Camping, hanging out at the beach, hiking and snowboarding (which I don’t get to do all that often living in the driest state on the driest continent on earth) are some of my favourite things to do.
Do you use any apps in business that you can’t live without?
So many! Asana, Google docs and Drive, Canva, Evernote, Later, Tailwind, Zoom, Podcast Republic.
What do you specialize in, let’s go deep into that?
Essentially I specialise in all things kids health but what sets me apart from others in the industry is my balanced and realistic approach. As a mum myself I know the everyday challenges mums face so I focus on making the information and advice I share easy to implement into our busy family lives.
We live in a world where there is an abundance of information and resources but it can be overwhelming and confusing! I aim to provide a one stop shop for mums to get all the information and inspiration they need to raise healthy kids.
Chronic disease in kids is on the rise at pretty scary rates. Eczema, asthma, allergies, autism. ADHD, digestive symptoms are very common among kids these days and our modern diet and lifestyle plays a big part in these kinds of conditions.
I get so much joy seeing the lasting results families can achieve with simple nutrition and lifestyle changes.
Where do you go to get your business information and why?
I work with business coaches and consultants who I turn to for advice and mentorship often. I recently worked with Melanie Miller to help me create an evergreen program and funnel. Jayne Day from Webonise is my Facebook ads guru and she goes above and beyond in my launches to help me trouble shoot the inevitable problems that come up!
I have various Facebook groups linked to online programs I have done that I turn to for support often - Tribe with Stu Mclaren and Live Video Blueprint with Luria are 2 of my favs.
I also listen to a lot of Podcasts for ideas and inspiration.
What one area of your business you would like to improve and why and how do you propose to do this?
Building a team and getting more organised. I was a one woman show until mid last year when I hired 3 people within a matter of months. Having support has changed my business and my life and I have plans to bring on more help this year.
I am in the middle of a launch at the moment and every time I launch I promise to myself I will be more organised next time (which never happens). I am going to carve out some time with my V.A. straight after my launch to map out a plan for my next launch.
Quick fun questions (what would you prefer)
Vampire or Ware-wolf? Neither really but I will say Vampires becasue I enjoyed True Blood.
Netflix or Stan? Netflix but I have never tried Stan.
Product based business or Service based business Service for sure. I feel giving people the information and support they need is much more powerful than any product can be.

LOVE MY PODCAST?
Okay, busy mum! Let’s get real, I mean really real real (is that to many reals). I would lurve to get this podcast out there (in podcast land) so that other business mums can learn from these conversations. As you know, I am on iTunes and I would be forever grateful to get a review on iTunes and the more reviews I receive the more likely iTunes will reward this podcast with a better reach.
