Ep. 28 2019 - Renee - Co Founder of the Mum Hub Collective
In todays episode of the busy mum podcast, I speak with Renee from Mum Hub Collective. We talk about running a busy household, a FaceBook community along with raising a child and keeping her sanity.
How do you define yourself and what you do in your business (if you have one) and your family life?
In my family life I am the big kid. I struggle to still eat my veggies but pretend I love them for my toddlers sake. I am often that girl who bounces off of the walls and is the energiser bunny. My nickname from a couple of different people growing up has been smiley, because I am such a bubbly person. Which is why when I got the postnatal depression things went horribly wrong and fast.
MUMHUB is my baby. I created it along with my best friend who also had PND. Together we aim to help as many people as we possibly can who struggle from PND. We never ever want people to experience what we did. I am so very lucky I get to see my little boy grow up, there were days where I wanted to shut my eyes forever.
Describe for us, a day in the life of you. Do you have any tips or life hacks?
A day in the life for me goes a little like this:
I wake up to my son calling out mummy around 8am (he is a 12 hour sleeper and has been since he was 9 weeks old – can I get a hell yes!!!)
He has breakfast while watching ABC Kids whilst I run around the house getting everything ready for the day. Usually I try and have things done the night before but there is only so much you can prepare yourself for.
Off to day care for little Fletcher and then off to work for me. I work at the Australian Army 2 days a week, at a beauty salon 1 day a week and work at weddings most weddings for my business – Help me Hitch Wedding Coordinators.
My husband works shift work in emergency services so he is often on night shift so I am alone a lot at night which gives me a chance to do work on my MUMHUB passion. I go to gym where I can and have just started meditating.
What was the best advice you have received?
If you want a pony, ask for a dinosaur (I have worked in the marketing/events/sales industry for a while and was always taught to ask and aim high and that way you can work your way back down if need be).
Where do you go to get your entertainment? E.g. Netflix, Books, Podcasts, YouTube, and what are your fave’s.
I LOVE Netflix – Orange is the new black, any sort of crime/cop shows, The Sinner, 13 Reasons Why, Ali Wong (she is my soul sister)
What is your go to dinner!
I do not cook, I am hopeless! I am the worst house wife ever, I get sooooo bored. I would rather fold 1000 clothes than cook food. But my go to is Chilli Concarne with corn chips.
What one area of your life would you like to improve?
My self control with lollies, chocolate and chocolate milk haha.
What’s your greatest fear and how do you deal with it?
Falling pregnant – I use contraception haha. My biggest fear is falling pregnant after having my postnatal depression I never ever want to go through any if that ever again.
1. What website have you signed up to that you actually find value in receiving their emails
To be honest – NONE – I don’t usually read emails. If it is on a podcast I can listen to it in the car
2. What’s one piece of advice you would give your pre baby self
Get breast implants!!! Your boobies will be left looking like saggy sacks of sand in grandma stockings!
3. What’s the most useful / useless baby item you have?
Most useful for me would have been a hands free expressing bra! I pump and drove alllllll the time, it was a life saver!
Most useless….hmmmmm I find you get a lot of useless gifts at baby showers especially from those who are not mothers….Like BABY JEANS!!!! I ain’t taking those things off each time I need to change my babies butt!!!

LOVE MY PODCAST?
Okay, busy mum! Let’s get real, I mean really real real (is that to many reals). I would lurve to get this podcast out there (in podcast land) so that other business mums can learn from these conversations. As you know, I am on iTunes and I would be forever grateful to get a review on iTunes and the more reviews I receive the more likely iTunes will reward this podcast with a better reach. Here is the iTunes link to help me with a review
